Academy membership entitles you to take advantage of a number of exclusive services and benefits along with supporting our overall work. Our membership services are aimed to help you to develop and improve your music career.
Member Events
Our annual programme of seminars and panels is exclusive to members and is organised by writers, for writers. They also provide a welcome opportunity to meet other composers and songwriters with similar issues or concerns.

Our member seminars are organised by each Executive Committee. Panellists include top songwriters and composers who bring a wealth of advice and experience.

We also run a series of business panels where members can access the knowledge of lawyers, accountants and royalty specialists.
Our songwriter panels offer members the opportunity to have their songs critiqued by professional writers.

The Academy runs special briefings for its professional members that offer informative presentations by key speakers in a social environment.
Online Members' Directory
The Academy's online directory offers a great opportunity for writers to promote their music writing on the web. Search functions enable visitors to locate music writers within specific genres and geographical areas.
Collaboration Service
Members can register to receive details of other members looking for writing partners.
Publications
Members can keep in touch with all Academy activities via our two printed publications - TheWorks (a bi-annual magazine) and FourFour (a quarterly colour newsletter). Both contain
specially commissioned articles, composer opportunities and updates.
Members also receive information on calls for submissions, discounts and industry events via a monthly email bulletin. This information can also be viewed at any time via the constantly updated members' area of our website.
Advice & Information
The Academy offers professional counsel from legal firms, ad-hoc advice from staff and one to one communication with members of the Academy's Executive Committees.
Specific legal advice for members who do not yet retain a lawyer may be requested via the Academy's legal service.
There are printed resources, such as The Score - our easy to follow advice sheets on subjects of interest to music writers along with sample publishing, commissioning and synchronisation contracts and licenses which members can download and use free of charge.
We publish composer and songwriter opportunities, showcase venues for live performance and news of relevant industry events, which often offer a discount to Academy members.

A ticket discount is available to members for both the Ivor Novello and Gold Badge Award Ceremonies.
