Biography

Peter Walters is a classically trained composer who now works in a variety of genres. Writing from the late 1980s, he co-composed many signature themes, stings and indents for both the BBC World Service and the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation, and around the same time scored Indra Bhose’s graduation film ‘Shona May’, later broadcast on Thames TV.

Recent works have included incidental music for local theatre, commissioned dance pieces, two very popular children’s musicals, and carols performed in local schools and churches.

He works with the Bengali singer, Rukhasana Safa, who has given live, Festival (Spit-Lit 2004) and television (Sky satellite Channel S 2005/2006) performances of his songs. He is currently scoring a full-length Anglo-Asian independent film, and writing the incidental music for the leading Birmingham based Bengali theatre group’s 2007 professional production. Examples of his songs can be found at www.indiestore.com/chimaerasounds.

He writes descriptive, narrative music, composes with a broad musical palate, taking influences from around the world. From orchestral to Asian fusion, from trip-hop to contemporary pop, he offers great versatility. He enjoys collaborative work, is flexible and easy to work with. Working from Chimaera Sounds, a fully equipped ProTools/Finale/Final Cut studio, with access to many sound sources and musicians, he can be contacted at peter@chimaera-sounds.co.uk.
