Biography
Specialising chiefly in works for the voice, Stuart Ward is a prolific composer who has the added advantage of having studied singing with the distinguished teacher Kate Emil-Behnke, subsequently broadcasting frequently as a tenor soloist. His intimate knowledge of the voice is strongly evident in his works.
He is author of 'The Training of the Tenor Voice', 'The Singer and the Word', and a volume of technical exercises for the tenor voice, published by Crestring Music.
His compositions have been performed in all the main London concert halls and other venues around Britain, as well as in Europe, and on the BBC, including 'British Composers of the Twentieth Century', a programme he shared with Benjamin Britten and Frank Bridge.
Recent performances include the canata 'The Estate of Innocence' and the Scottish Border Ballad 'The Wife of Usher's Well', at St. John's, Smith Square, and 'A Burn's Songbook' at Kingston Parish Church.
