Biography

Yuksel Dural began playing the piano at the age of five. Her education continued in Vienna with Professor Rene Bach. After studying at the Julliard Conservatoire in the United States, she established herself as a pianist.

With the reference of BASCA in London, she won three world song contests, including the South Pacific Award of Merit and the Unisong Achievement Certificate from Hollywood. In 1997 she achieved an Award of Merit Certificate ('All One', from the Ballad category). Due to her successful works, she has also achieved several other awards. Her song 'Forgotten You' (Lyrics: S. Clulow) was awarded the Certificate of Achievement in the 1999 Unisong International Song Contest.

Another of Mrs Dural's latest works, titled 'Farewell' (Lyrics: S. Clulow), achieved the Award of Merit in the South Pacific International Song Contest.

In addition to this, she attained the Certificate of Achievement from the Hollywood Unisong Contest (instrumental). Kannal D, a Turkish television channel, presented Mrs Dural with the Artist Eurovision Gold Hand Success Award. Among her many works, she has produced two symphonies, 12 piano lyrics, 50 country songs and 18 pop music lyrics. Mrs Dural has composed her pieces for concert halls throughout the world, including the Nottinghamshire Arnold Theatre. Due to its great success, the Nottingham Evening Post featured her conert, shown below:

Truly Turkish Delightful

Pianist Yuksel Dural has a sure technique and a warmth of temperament which would guarantee her popularity beyond her native Turkey, where she heads an orchestra.

The first half of her recital at Arnold's Bonnington Theatre on Friday was devoted to two extended masterworks, J S Bach's Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue paired with the Pathetique Sonata of Beethoven.

Beethoven's dramatic input was caught with zest, while lyrical tone was richly sustained in his central adagio.

The following miscellany from the romantic era inlucded a generous helping of Chopin, along with evocative items by Sinding, Albeniz and Mendelssohn.

At times the playing was a larger scale than either the piano or the auditorium seemed to warrant. But if Rustle of Spring produced a near avalanche of sound, softer tones were forthcoming in a Mendelssohn, Gondola Song.

The Chopin selection drew vivid contrasts, from the exuberant B flat Mazurka of Opus 7 to the melancholy of the Grande Valse Brillante and the rhythmic presto of the Fantasie-Impromptu.

The pianist's first encore was a piece of her own, composed for the occasion, titled 'Robin Hood'. It sounded like one of those heroic battle numbers beloved of Victorians (by Peter Palmer).

She gave successful concerts in Austria, Vigana and wrote police marches, army marches, and a funeral march after Chopin. The BBC also experienced her delightful works, after inviting Mrs Dural to compose many pieces for the radio.

Her latest success arose from the selling of her album, 'Rhapsodies in Blue', and she also trains many students all over the world. In addition to composing, her artistic talents range to creative landscapes, portraits, orchestra chief management and poetry; many of her works have been exhibited.

Among her achievements, Mrs Dural has directed the famous chamber orchestra and has composed for the Turkish Prime Minister, army generals and MPs. Her most recent lyrics are 'Clinton Saxophone Solo' and 'We Grow Love Together', which was produced in conjunction with the Prime Minister of Turkey, Bulent Ecevit.
