Biography

Aspiring film composer Jane Livermore has been writing professionally for four years. She lives in Guildford and has a home studio where she writes music for film, television, theatre, and more recently has produced a children's CD, following the birth of her son 3 years ago and new baby in September 05. She runs under the company Motion Music Ltd.

After reading Music at the University of Surrey, where she wrote six orchestral works for chamber orchestra and two theatrical scores, she studied Composition for Film and Television at the London College of Music, taught by Scottish composer John McLeod. Here she scored and produced four short films. The most successful of these was Sherlock, Louise and Mina, which received the FUJI-FILM Scholarship and subsequently won the Carlton Television Screenplay Award at BAFTA in September 1996.

Since then Jane has written and produced music for various television broadcasts as well as a feature film and a musical. Her most recent commissions include the docu-drama Glen Miller's Last Flight on Channel 4, and Cheer for Charlie on BBC1 with Charlie Dimmock, which saw the well known gardener learning to fly the trapeze! Other BBC productions include Althorp, A Family Garden, where Earl Spencer was interviewed in the grounds of his stately home, reminiscing on his childhood with Diana, Princess of Wales.

In July 1997 Jane began her television work with a documentary series for Channel Four, Science in Focus. The following year, she won a competition to score music For the Catwalk in conjunction with SPNM and St Martin's College of Art and Design. This piece was performed by the Smith Quartet and played at the Planit 2000 exhibition and State of the Nation 2000 concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Late that year the Dutch Bank ABN Amro commissioned her to write a company theme tune.

In Summer 2000 Jane scored her biggest work to date, Dazzle, a feature film for the Disney Channel, which contains 90 minutes of wall to wall orchestral music. This has been shown at selected UK cinemas. For this same company Jane has also completed 52 episodes of the future children's series, Filligoggin, due for worldwide release later this year.

Another route Jane has taken was to score a musical. Jane has also scored the musical, A Tale of Two Cities. This commenced in Summer '99 after she was commissioned by Stair8 Productions in Bermuda and collaborated with playwright and librettist Warren Cabral. Working over 3,000 miles apart, they relied on the Internet to send e-mails attaching draft lyrics and sound files to each other. The songs previewed in Bermuda November '99 and the musical is scheduled for complete performance at the Bermuda Festival in 2002.
