Biography
Graduating in Fine Arts and Graphic Design in 1968, Tim was signed to United Artists Records, releasing four self-penned albums over the following three years. He founded the Songwriters Workshop recording label in 1973 with the specific remit of offering Singer/Songwriters a caring environment for creative composition and recording. Many artists, including Peter Sarstedt, joined the label.
In 1983 Tim jointly founded what was to become the largest fully independent British music publishing company, Filmtrax PLC. The company expanded to eventually own such catalogues as the Columbia Pictures Music Group, Novello and Co, and Belwin Mills. Filmtrax also financed and supervised many major British films including Room With A View, Mona Lisa and Withnail and I.
Tim went on to become Chairman and owner of Leosong Copyright Service Limited which became the most respected and longest established music copyright administration company, and is now part of the Independent Music Group.
In 1997 Tim founded the music publishing arm of VCI PLC and signed Jose Carreras, Cinergi and Cinetel Pictures as clients during his tenure.
In 1999 Tim Founded Screen Music Services then together with Guy Fletcher founded Music Copyright Solutions PLC which eventually was listed on the London Alternative Investment Market.
In 2004 Tim brought together the elements of what is now one of the lergest independent music publishing concerns in the world Kingstreet Media Limted, together with ex Rolling Stones manager Andrew Wilkinson, Paul Russell and Mike Bungey.
In late 2005 Tim retired from the active music industry to concentrate on his film production company Spargo Productions. Spargo is currently producing four major feature films and has just launched a new series of the cult TV cartoon Willo The Wisp.
Tim was a founding director of BACS and continues to support the Academy in any way his 40 years experience ( 2006) in the industry can help.
Over the last thirty years Tim has gained unrivalled experience in the ownership and management of music copyrights, and now works as a consultant in copyright whilst still running his own music publishing company.
