Vivienne is a versatile singer-songwriter and plays guitar.
She has produced and managed herself and the bands she formed or has been involved in. With her love of music, she has crossed the commercial boundaries of pop, soft rock and soul. Her ultimate vocal idol is Karen Carpenter. Vivienne has been performing with various bands as a singer since leaving college. She then became the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Solaris. The group's major influences were Fleetwood Mac and Cocteau Twins. They made five demos and played various gigs around London.
She then went solo in the mid-1990s when she produced her first solo CD simply called 'Vivienne'. Some influences include kd Lang, Chrissie Hynde and Suzanne Vega. Vivienne was interviewed on the Multitrack 2 programme of the BBC World Service about harmonizing and sang a live rendition of Bread's 'Make It With You' on London's Heart Radio. She was also featured in the local press and achieved a position in the top 300 out of 3000 songs in the Worldwide 'Unisong Contest' in 1997 with her song 'String Around my Heart'.
Those who came to her solo gigs mentioned that her music might sound fuller if she had a group behind her. She took their advice and in 1997 went on to form and manage her own eight-piece band 'Vivienne & Friends', who later became known as 'Way point 5'. She produced a second 'live' CD with them with the music ranging from pop to dance. Way point 5 made a three-song video that was shot at 'The Orange' and the group were also featured in the 'Sound on Stage' magazine and the local press in South East London. Their gigs were always listed in Time Out, Melody Maker, NME, London's Evening Standard Hot Tickets Magazine, Friday's Daily Mirror and London Radio Stations such as GLR, Heart and LBC.
In the summer of 2001, Vivienne was joined by some musician friends in Peterborough (keyboards, electric guitar and Backing Vocals) and played at the following festivals: Peterborough Football Club in aid of the Cancer Research Campaign; the second was BBC Music Live playing at Queensgate Shopping Centre, the third was the famous Willow Festival at the Embankment and lastly, the Summerfest in aid of St Johns Ambulance.
Vivienne then joined a covers band called `Ajenda' from March 2004 to December 2005. They played in London, Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas. For publicity they recorded a CD of 6 cover songs. Vivienne has now gone back to singing and playing her own compositions acoustically. More will follow........Watch this space!
