Biography

After completing a foundation course at Wimbledon School of Art, Mark turned down an offer to study sculpture at Canterbury, choosing instead to play guitar for a number of bands in and around London.

With pop stardom eluding him, he worked for a year as a sports journalist, before joining Dick James Music Studios as a sound engineer. While at DJM he worked with Haircut 100, Modern Romance, Psychic TV, Patti Palladin, Wrathchild, Juliet Roberts, Dream Academy, Dave Ball and the film director Derek Jarman. His first credit was as editor of the infamous Troggs Tapes which DJM released as a single in 1983.

When the studios closed down in 1985, Mark set up an 8-track facility at home and began composing soundtracks.

His first commission was a corporate video for Hawker Siddeley and a variety of work followed, including television (Flesh and Blood, The Adventure Series, Eldorado, The Wars of the Roses), video (Heart of the Nation, Patrick Moore's Guide to Astronomy, Paul McKenna's Hypnosis series, A Thin Red Line), radio, library music and commercials. In recent years he has returned to songwriting - writing, producing or arranging over 900 songs for numerous ELT courses used by children from Argentina to Slovenia.

As a writer/journalist Mark has written for a number of print and on-line publications, as well as editing books on skiing, scuba diving, American football, and the restoration of Hampton Court Palace, for which his father was the project architect.

He voiced the telephone-based Bizarre Jukebox for nearly 10 years and in 1998 was co-host of the Accumulator Quiz on Talk Radio.
