Biography

Born in London in 1956, Cremona first started his musical career in Malta playing with rock bands and jazz musicians on the island. Later he joined an Italian band in the mid-seventies and enjoyed a number of hit singles in Europe. After an extensive tour, he returned to the UK and joined Arista/Ariola Record Company's books playing with several bands as a session musician reaching the Top Twenty charts. He wrote songs with Swiss- based singer Marc Storace, ex-lead singer with Tea and Krokus, which led to a contract with EMI. Cremona next formed two bands of his own in the early 80s, 'Cartoon Logic' followed a year after by an eight piece jazz band, 'Strange Cargo'. In this tight jazz outfit he wrote all the music and lyrics while playing piano/keyboards or electric/acoustic guitars and also adding the vocals. The forthcoming album was delayed when the band split up due to his ill health. Following a third kidney transplant, Cremona was recruited by Channel 4 TV for a series of short films directed by Sir David Puttnam of Enigma Television Productions. Throughout the 80's and early 90's, he went on to work on the 'Love Series' for Channel 4 TV and also scored a number of promotional themes and jingles for Radio Stations and Advertisers here in the UK and abroad.

Cremona later went on to work with South African Choreographer Zelide Jeppe for four of Richmond's 'Centre Dance' productions scoring a number of contemporary and exciting works in 1994 such as: 'Leap Into Dance' at Richmond Theatre, Surrey and 'Resolution' at The Place, London. These were followed by a successful musical entitled 'The Blue Bird' which had a short run at the Secombe Theatre in Sutton and was released as an album in 1993. On the more commercial front, two of his songs reached the short list selection for the Eurovision Song Festival on two separate occasions.

By the late 90's Cremona signed on to Harvest Records for his second solo album, 'All In The Mind', which is still very popular. Tracks from the album are used by dancers worldwide for their original captivating and eclectic sounds. The album was re-released on the Peoplesound label in 1998. One track on that album, 'Maslow's Hiearchy of Needs' won the Unisong Best Instrumental Award in California, USA in 1999.

In 2002, a third album was released entitled 'Reasons For All Seasons'.

Unfortunately two months later after signing onto the 'Peoplesound' label, Cremona suffered a stroke and was unable to tour. Following a two year recovery, Cremona was back with a string of compositions which were commissioned by the 'Czech Republic Film Company'(CRFCU). A new record deal with an orchestral recording in the Czech Republic gave his music a wider audience in Europe. Some tracks from that album were later choreographed by Australian dance company 'Scope', who toured Europe for six months.

In 2004, he formed a blues band, 'Out For The Count', with ex-professional drummer and good friend, John Mansfield. Cremona has just completed a series of promotional themes for the 'Abbey Bank' TV campaign and is currently recording some vocal numbers with a female jazz singer as well as other young aspiring singers.

Rob continues to work on his music despite his long term chronic illness. He is married with three children and lives in Surrey, UK.
