Of Maltese origin, Nicola received three statewide playwriting prizes in Australia during studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, where she trained in composition under Stephen Cronin and Stephen Leek and in voice under Adele Nisbet. She is the recent recipient of a research and development grant from the Arts Council of England for her musical Jude based Hardy's Jude the Obscure, recently workshopped at London's Central School of Speech via Mercury Musical Developments and to be presented at Yale University, USA in June 2007. Other musical works include The Legend of Beowulf (presented at the Cockpit Theatre, London) and What the Dickens? (presented at Burgh House and further developed at The Royal Academy of Music in early 2007). She is the Artistic Director of The Travesty Theatre Company based in St John's Wood, London.
