Biography

Born in 1953, Andrew Morris taught himself both piano and composition before eventually taking a postgraduate course at the Welsh College of Music and Drama. Since 1980, his professional musical work can be divided into three main areas.

Teaching/educational work
Private piano lessons in classical, contemporary and jazz styles
Demonstration lectures on contemporary piano techniques/repertoire
Group composition workshops with school and community groups

Performing
Solo piano work - wide repertoire from C16 - C20
Accompaniment work - with both singers and instrumentalists for examinations, auditions, recitals etc.
Chamber music work - member of baroque, classical and contemporary music groups

Composing
Vocal and chamber instrumental works in concert style
Songs in popular style
Works created with school and community groups for public performance

Recent work in this latter category includes:

June 1998:
Leominster Music Monster, a community event involving five professional and around 180 amateur musicians (for the 1998 Leominster Festival)

August 1998:
If you go down to the woods tonight, an open-air music theatre performance at Queenswood Country Park

March 1999:
Over the Boundary, a piece devised with a group of five musicians together with a youth dance company and given three public performances in Hereford and Leominster
