Biography

Michael Gill was born in London and studied classical piano from the age of 7. He passed up the opportunity to study music at university, opting instead to play keyboards in a number of rock and pop bands, writing and recording his own material.

In the early eighties he joined the producers Stock Aitken Waterman, doing much of the programming / sequencing on early SAW hits such as the cult classic ‘You Spin Me Round’ by Dead or Alive. This work led to the award of a silver disc for 'Whatever I Do' by Hazell Dean. He later went on to have his own songs produced and recorded by Colin Thurston (Duran Duran’s producer).

He subsequently returned to formal study at London’s Morley College, undertaking a course in Harmony, Counterpoint and Composition under the composer William Mival producing several concert works at this time.

Later he undertook a Film and TV music course run by Guy Mitchelmore, and had a brief period of study in a workshop environment under Howard Skempton.

In 2003 Michael established MG Media Productions Ltd., as a vehicle to promote his musical activities. He has demonstrated his ability to produce music for TV including commercials, documentaries, animation, sig tunes as well as short films and computer games.

He works from a fully equipped studio, capable of managing the high technical demands placed on today’s composers. He has a proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines whilst delivering a quality product.

Michael resides in Scotland  and is married with a seven year old daughter.
