Biography

Musical background: Father was in popular Midland-based band the "Five Jays". Related to Midland jazz legend Tommy Burton. Karen was educated at Abraham Darby school. Studied for a music degree at University College Cardiff and the University of Birmingham. Returned to Shropshire as a music teacher. Left teaching to have a family. Returned to music, writing own material and performing. Singer/songwriter. Featured on Carlton TV as finalist in Alternative Song for Europe, finishing 2nd out of 293 entries, including entries from Majorca and Jersey. Versatile musician playing clarinet, sax, flute and keyboard, writing with meaningful lyrics and powerful melodies. Songs written from the heart. Had several songs published and has written for other artists.
