Academy members at the Grammys

Congratulations to the following Academy members:

Amy Winehouse at the IvorsProfessional Academy member Amy Winehouse, who won 5 of the 6 categories in which she was nominated, at the 50th Anniversary of the Grammys. Amy picked up the Grammy for Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal performance, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Amy won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song for “Rehab” in 2007.

Academy Fellow and Professional member Sir Paul McCartney, on 3 nominations; Best Male Pop Vocal Album for “Memory Almost Full”, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Dance Tonight” and Best Solo Rock Performance, for “Only Mama Knows”, both from the same album.

Academy Fellow and Professional member David Arnold was nominated for writing the song “You Know My Name” with Chris Cornell, from the film “Casino Royale”. The songwriter and prolific film composer won the award for Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.

Professional Academy member John Powell received a nomination for Best Score/Soundtrack Album for his score to the film “Happy Feet”. John Powell also won an Ivor for the Best Film Score, for “Ice Age2: The Meltdown”, in 2007.

It is worth noting that Professional Academy member Corinne Bailey Rae was a featured artist on the Grammy winner of the Album of The Year Award; “River: The Joni Letters” by Herbie Hancock.
