Academy hosts first ever Hustings
On the 14th May, the Academy hosted the first ever hustings for writer director candidates standing for the PRS Board.
The event was open to all PRS writer and publisher voting members. All seven candidates outlined their reasons for standing and answered a wide range of challenging questions from the floor.
Although the turnout was a little disappointing, all those present responded warmly to the high level of debate and many expressed their gratitude to the Academy for laying the event on and for providing an opportunity to hear the candidates differing points of view on key issues. It is clearly in the interests of democracy that there should be a well-informed electorate and the Academy will certainly lay on a similar event next year.
